One third of triplets
Voted most likely to end up
as Julie the Entertainment Director -- she has this amazing ability to
remember something about everybody
Beth's favorite food is homemade
tacos with refried beans or seasoned tofu, and she's packing them in before
she goes on the upcoming trip to Ireland, because she's very picky about
her tacos and hasn't found any in Ireland yet that she likes
Plays the harp; her father
is a ragtime pianist and her great-grandmother played the mandolin.
Go ahead, ask her what song
she's singing in the picture above
Learned to surf in Ireland
What she loves about Irish
trad music:
"Irish music is learned aurally, it is not written down.
This allows for the spontaneity and freedom to change things, to ornament
and to have fun. It feels great when people dance to our tunes or really
listen to the words of a song."
Favorite book: Hotel New
Hampshire. Beth also always reads a book on Ireland just before a
trip, so this time around she's reading Seek the Fair Land by Walter
Macken. She vows to finish it by November 1, as she leaves for Ireland
on Nov. 6.
Favorite movies: Naked Gun,
Murder on the Orient Express.
Favorite recordings: Christy
Moore, Donal Lunny & Jimmy Faulkner, Live in Dublin. Most recent
recording and new fave is the Alan Lomax Collection of Irish and English
Ballads on Rounder. Also has been listening to mouth music recordings
on folktrax. Gave a listen in the car last week while driving home to
David Bowie's Greatest.
